Rachael in her Seattle studio with Milo
The artist in her studio with her dog, Milo.

To be honest, I don't consider these "portraits"... but rather, impressionistic paintings where the subject happens to be pets. Dogs, cats, and other animals can be so expressive & have so much personality. My goal is to capture a scene from their life ~ and reflect how they touch our lives.

In addition to commissioned portraits, I am currently developing a series of paintings of people out & about in Seattle.

Influences & Inspiration dog portraits seattle

Although I am predominately self-taught, I was fortunate enough to study painting from William (Bill) Cummings ~ the youngest of the renowned "Northwest School" of artists.

Along with Bill, I am influenced by artist like George Rodrigue (Blue Dog man), Monet, Van Gogh, Mucha, Gustav Klimt, John Singer Sargent, ZZ Wei, Pam Ingalls... and many more.
